What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a long-term document that guides the future development of a county, city, village, or town. It outlines the community’s vision and goals for land use, infrastructure, and other aspects of physical and economic development. This can act as a roadmap for how the community may evolve over time. Per Wisconsin State Statutes, the comprehensive planning law (Chapter 66.1001) requires that adopted comprehensive plans must be reviewed and updated at least every 10 years.
A Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Addison: 2050
On February 19, 2026, the Town of Addison adopted A Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Addison: 2050. The Town of Addison worked with the Washington County Community Development Department through the Shared Services Initiative throughout 2025 to update the plan. The plan provides a vision and multiple goals for the Town of Addison to create a vibrant community. While the comprehensive plan looks to the year 2050, the plan will be periodically reviewed and updated as needed to reflect changing conditions, new opportunities, and evolving community needs.
