Boil/Bottle Water Advisory
BOIL/BOTTLE WATER INFORMATION
Per the DNR we are required to issue a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory when 60% or more of our system has experienced a disruption in service. Not all water service interruptions will require a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory.
When a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory is issued, Allenton Sanitary District personnel will do their best to notify everyone affected. The notice will be posted on the Town of Addison website and door hanger notices will be distributed as soon as possible. Please help notify your neighbors. When the Boil/Bottle Water Advisory is lifted, it will be posted on the Town of Addison website.
A Boil/Bottle Water Advisory will remain in effect until laboratory results show that water is safe to use for all purposes. The tests usually take 24 to 48 hours to complete.
During a Boil/Bottle Water Advisory, water supplied by our system should NOT be used for drinking, food preparation, making ice and personal hygiene needs. (When water enters your body.)
Bathing, washing clothes or dishes and other activities where water is used externally, should not pose a health risk during a Boil Water Advisory, as long as you take precautions that no one drinks it. Toddlers and young children are most at risk of accidental ingestion during bathing, so they need to be watched carefully.
Commercially bottled water or boiled water should be used for drinking, food preparation, making ice and personal hygiene needs. If you choose to boil water, the water should be heated to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
Be assured that the Allenton Sanitary District and any contractors that may be hired are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
